Antiporn Software and Parental Control Options for Windows Users

Why Antiporn Software?

Antiporn software has become a necessary need for any family with kids. The multi-billion dollar pornography industry is attempting to invade all homes worldwide. It's not always good vs. evil, sometimes it's just money. The more people watching pornography, and the more kids become exposed and addicted to it the more money the pornography industry will make.

With almost 12% of all websites are in the pornography industry there is a really good chance that you, your kids, or someone else that you care about will run into pornography. From my experience with many, many friends ... watching pornography is easily addictive. It all starts out of curiosity. Later, curiosity turns into a habit, and a habit turns into addiction.

In this lens you'll learn about ways to block Internet pornography websites, including installing an antiporn software on all your computers.

Windows Built-in Antiporn Software

For Windows users there is a parental control icon in the control panel of Windows Vista and 7. Through this feature you can control what games your kids can play, what websites they can access, and what movies or TV channels they can watch on Windows Media Center.

This built in parental control enables you to monitor your kids activity on your computer and based on this feedback you can fine-tune and reconfigure your parental control settings to fit with your kids use. Just create a separate account for each one of your kids and set up your parental control options for each account.

Windows XP doesn't have this feature as centralized as it is on Vista and 7, but you still can set the parental control on the Internet browser and Windows media player. It's a lot of work, and most of the time after a while you'll have to turn them off because they block everything.

Antiporn Software to Install

It's a good move of Microsoft to add a built in parental control software with the newest versions of Windows. Unfortunately through they are not the best (based on my friends experience with it). In addition to the faulty positives (blocking non-porn sites) and negatives (porn sites that infiltrate through to your kids in spite of the parental control), there is an icon that will show on the system tray to indicate that the parental control is on. So there is no way you can put it to work without everybody knowing it is on. Although it's better to be transparent and let all users know it is there, some parents might need to keep it stealth for a reason or another.

There are third party antiporn programs that are compatible with Windows, and can even be controlled from Windows control panel. These programs have their own database and settings that are meant to enhance the user safe surf experience without interfering with normal activity.

The most recent one on the market is my porn blocker. It is designed by a father and his software developer brother in order to protect his kids after he walked on his 10 years old with an explicit scene on his monitor. The software is available for anyone to download and it is so cheap that any one can afford.
